- Hey Mon!
-
- PC-GAME ROOM is a collection of over 1,400 shareware and public domain
- games and entertainment-related programs. Included are hundreds of .GIF
- image files. This disc was intended for FUN!
-
-
- Ready Steve?....Unh Huh
- LET'S GO!
-
- PC-GAME ROOM supports any Microsoft-compatible mouse. If you wish
- to use a Mouse, drivers must be loaded before running this disc.
-
- Keyboard commands are straight forward, use LEFT & RIGHT arrow keys
- to move across the menu. DOWN arrow or ENTER to pull down menus.
- UP/DOWN arrows & PAGE UP/PAGE DOWN to move vertically in both menus
- and text files. ESCAPE will always back you out one step.
-
- All program files on this disc are archived, using the PKZIP
- compression format (PKWARE, Inc.). For this reason PC-GAME ROOM files
- must be copied from the CD-ROM to a destination drive (hard disk recc.)
- in order to run. Users can choose to either copy the *.ZIP file (the
- compressed form) or extract (uncompress) from the CD-ROM to the destination
- drive, during the copy routine. The Default is extract (uncompress).
-
-
- To copy a file:
-
- First choose "LIST\COPY File Areas" from the main menu. Use UP/DOWN arrow
- keys to select the desired category and press ENTER. A catalog text file
- will appear. Use UP/DOWN arrow & PAGE UP/PAGE DOWN keys to view this list.
- The byte size of each program file is provided and refers to the size of
- the *.ZIP file only. Note that UNCOMPRESSION will increase this number
- approximately 3 times!. It is recommended that the user check for adequate
- free space before copying program files.
-
- After choosing a program from the catalog press F1. A window will appear
- in the center of the screen. Enter the FILENAME.ZIP (remember to use the
- full filename.ZIP) and press ENTER. Enter the drive letter you wish to
- send the file to, default is C:. User can now decide to Extract (uncompress)
- the *.ZIP file or to copy it as a .ZIP file. Default is Y (Yes, please
- extract this file). Press <Ctrl><ENTER> keys simultaneously. PC-GAME ROOM
- will now read your destination drive and display a directory tree. Use
- UP/DOWN arrow & PAGE UP/PAGE DOWN keys to select the desired destination
- directory. Press ENTER. PC-GAME ROOM will now pause to let user double-check
- filename.ZIP & destination path. Press any key to copy.
-
- After copying the file, pressing <Esc> will go back to the catalog text
- file. User can now copy more files from this category or press <Esc> and
- go back to the main menu.
-
-
- Playing games:
-
- After successfully copying a chosen program from the CD-ROM disc, users
- can "exit to DOS" from the main menu and play.
-
- Note: many games will require all the free memory you've got! It is
- recommended users "QUIT" PC-GAME ROOM to free up memory for these
- games.
-
-
- Read any documentation (.DOC or .TXT) or READ.ME files for specific
- information pertaining to the use of the program. To start a game,
- look for a file with an extension of .EXE, .COM or .BAT. Then type
- the name of the file to begin the program. For more information on
- a specific program, or to register, contact the Shareware author.

-
-
- Note: Some programs require a INSTALL routine. Most of these games can
- be "INSTALLED" from the subdirectory they were copied into from
- the PC-GAME ROOM disc. However, some programs have an "INSTALL"
- routine that assumes the software is being installed from a floppy
- drive. These usually ask you to select drive "A" or "B" during
- the "INSTALL", then prompt you to change floppy disks, etc.
-
- The recommended procedure around this is to copy the program files
- from PC-GAME ROOM on to floppy disks, then run the programs
- "INSTALL" routine normally.
-
- Great care was taken to make this as easy as possible. Users will
- notice some program files are segmented expl: PRT1, PRT2 etc.
- This was done to retain the floppy disk distribution format.
-
-
-
- .GIF Image files:
-
- Several hundred .GIF images are included on this disc. GIF files can
- be copied in the same manner as the program files. GIF images can be
- viewed directly off the CD-ROM disc, from the DOS prompt, using any
- popular viewing program such as CSHOW and VPIC. (Found in UTILITIES on
- this disc)
